Father Royce Gergeson
From a young age, Father Royce Gregerson felt the calling. He was certain that God wanted him to be a priest. Today, he is Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Goshen. He is serving the parish and community well.
Father Royce’s path to Goshen has taken some interesting twists and turns. Each has afforded him the opportunity to learn and grow. He is originally from Marion and attended Wabash College. His major was Spanish and, as he says, “has served my nicely here in Goshen.” He spent a semester studying in Argentina.
After college, Father Royce joined the seminary, his studies took him to Columbus, Ohio and to the Vatican in Rome. Upon his return to Indiana, he served as Parochial Vicar at a couple of parishes in the Fort Wayne area. He was assigned to St. John in 2017.
Father Royce enjoys entertaining. He says he gets it from his mother. The family has a lake house in LaGrange County and they take great pleasure in hosting others.
A self-professed “foodie,” Father Royce loves to cook. He enjoys trying new recipes and sharing with his guests. Father says he does not really have a go-to dish, but he then says that his pulled pork prepared within pineapple, soy and ginger is a favorite. We confess it does sound delicious.
Father is happy serving St. John’s and appreciates the people of the parish. He is delighted to be in Goshen, too. He likes the diversity of the community and has welcomed the opportunity to be involved in things beyond his role as Pastor.
Father Royce is involved with Goshen’s Center for Healing & Hope. He is one of the chaplains at Goshen Hospital as well.
Father Royce says, “It is good to get to know people beyond the parish. I like supporting a great city” like Goshen. Father, we are thankful for your support and involvement.
