“I like old things,” says Jeanne Focht. She enjoys hunting for items that deserve a second chance. She gives them a little spit and polish and features them at her shop, Dutch Lady Antiques in Nappanee. Jeanne has a gift for making something special something special out of the ordinary, worn out, the handed down or the discarded.
Jeanne enjoys antiques and says they remind her of her grandparents with whom she had a wonderful relationship.
Jeanne knows how special time with grandkids can be. She and husband Joe have nine of their own. Family is very important to them. Jeanne and Joe feel blessed they were able to raise their three daughters in a town like Nappanee where they have lived for over 30 years. Joe is a pastor at Nappanee Missionary Church, a position that often requires moving from place to place.
While Joe is originally from Pennsylvania, Jeanne was raised in Wakarusa. She attended Northwood High School and Bethel College. It was there she met her husband.
Her friend, Kelly Linhart says Jeanne shows “selfless love, care and concern for those around her. Jeanne has an amazing heart.”
