It’s Saturday! Today we are recognizing Jessica Flores!!!
Coppes Commons in Nappanee is a one-of-kind collection of shops that offers both visitors and the locals a place to do a little browsing, buying and have a treat or two. Chances are you have seen Coppes Commons on Facebook or other social media. If you did, it is likely the work of Jessica Flores. She handles media and marketing for the venue.
Jessica likes helping small businesses and their owners. She thinks it is a winning situation on many levels. It brings people to the area, boosts the local economy and gives entrepreneurs a supportive environment to launch and grow their ventures.
As much as Jessica enjoys working with those who are part of Coppes Commons, her real passion is for her art. She is a watercolorist and illustrator. She has perfected a batik technique for creating texture. Her artistic approach encompasses the natural and the abstract. Her work is as striking for its distinctive style as it is for her range.
You can find Jessica selling her work at area festivals and events. You can also visit her website.
Jessica describes herself as “A Hoosier at heart.” Her life in rural Northern Indiana has had a strong influence on her interests and choices. Her eyes light up when she talks about her work and her family.
Jessica and husband, Dan have been married for 20 years. Their 13-year-old daughter, Nora has both mom’s artistic and entrepreneurial leanings. Nora has learned to knit and has started a business to sell what she makes. Jessica is pleased for Nora and proud of her efforts.
Jessica has been described as enjoyable to know, generous in spirit and kind. She is seen as hard working, creative and artistic. She cares about the community and those who live and work here. As someone who knows her well tells us, “Jessica is an advocate for positive living and is a great ambassador for Nappanee.”
Art and commerce are both needed for a vibrant community. Jessica makes both happen right here in Elkhart County.
