The city of Goshen values the arts, so much so that it hired a creative arts coordinator to work with the local arts committee and to nurture arts initiatives into sustainable programs.

Since March 2017, Amy Worsham has been working on developing an art market for the city and developing a database of the city’s arts and cultural resources. In her free time (!), she co-chairs the Little Big Idea Grant committee with Steve Gruber.

Here’s a little bit from Amy’s bio:

Amy Worsham is a letterpress printer by trade and owner/operator of the Tympanum Press, a letterpress and design studio based in Goshen, Indiana. The Tympanum Press specializes in the centuries-old craft of handset typography and letterpress printing combined with intuitive and fresh graphic design. Amy studied graphic design and art history at Indiana University  South Bend.

Amy’s husband, Richard Worsham, is a fourth-generation letterpress printer from Richmond, Virginia. Richard sparked Amy’s interest in the hands-on approach to design required by the letterpress printing technique. Working together with Richard out of their apartment, Amy learned the basics of letterpress printing on an heirloom press that belonged to Richard’s grandfather while raising a growing family. Eight years later, that small hobby press has outgrown numerous spaces and studios and has multiplied into a full-time operation with nine antique letterpress machines. Over the years, Amy has found creative design solutions using fine printing and design for a wide range of clients globally.

As the first Arts Coordinator for the Mayor’s Arts Council for the city of Goshen, Amy will have a channel to serve the community, passing on her experience building a business as a working artist. Her passion to serve the artist community is rooted in this personal experience and the desire to help other emerging creative professionals understand and overcome common challenges in starting and growing a creative business. She strives to work together with the Mayor’s Arts Council to connect available resources Goshen’s artist community needs to thrive.

The Mayor’s Arts Council is Goshen’s collective voice for artists and recognizes the arts as an economic driver by working to improve the vibrancy of their diversely talented town.
