What is Vibrant Communities?
Vibrant Communities launched in 2016 to inspire residents to advocate for quality of place as a critical component of improving Elkhart County. Discussions organized by Vibrant Communities in community conversations helped create the first Action Agenda in 2016 with a list of 77-priority projects, programs and policies to improve downtowns, parks and trails, arts and cultural activities, and resident engagement. Since 2016, 50 of the original 77 priority projects have been started or complete.
Also, as part of the movement to engage and celebrate our residents, we also launched Vibrant People, an ongoing storytelling initiative highlighting more than 200 residents to-date, and have given more than $100,000 in little BIG idea and neighborhood grants inspired by the people in our communities.
